Dr. Bohnert is an Associate Professor in Clinical and Developmental Psychology. Her work focuses on how various contexts may promote better outcomes among youth, including lower rates of obesity, fewer behavior problems, and better social and emotional adjustment. With training in both development and child clinical psychology, her primary research agenda centers on how out-of-school contexts may serve as a buffer for youth. Relatedly, she has directed evaluations of community programs that seek to improve health and wellness. A guiding principle of her research is translatability with an emphasis on informing policy and practice recommendations to reduce health disparities among youth. She teaches graduate-level courses in Social Development, Child Psychopathology and serves as a clinical supervisor of the 2nd year students at Loyola’s Wellness Center. At the undergraduate level, she teaches Introductory Psychology and Psychological Perspectives on the Experience of Globalization. When she is not working, she can be found looking for opportunities to cook, explore/travel both near and far, and exercise in nature with her family and friends.
